No expert or personal experience here, but i think correct time alignment(as close as physically possible) was one of the prime design goals in the engine.

I'm guessing their sound is very coherent, with huge dynamic ability. I'm sure that clean, very high SPL's is where they excel, and they probably really need a truck load of LF elements to round out the bottom for most music.
